Alocasia 'Jacklyn'

General description

Alocasia 'Jacklyn' is an ornamental alocasia variety with broad, ear-shaped or arrow-shaped leaves that grow upright and elegantly. The foliage is bright green, sometimes patterned or shimmering depending on the light. It remains fairly compact for an alocasia yet offers a striking tropical look.

Origin

A cultivar of the Alocasia family, native to tropical Southeast Asia. Selected for its decorative foliage and its ability to adapt to indoor conditions.

Care

  • Light : Bright indirect light; avoid direct sun which can burn the leaves.
  • Watering : Water approximately every 1 to 2 weeks, allowing the substrate to dry out halfway between waterings; adjust according to light conditions.
  • Humidity : high; humid environment is favorable for its optimal development.
  • Temperature : between approximately 18 and 27°C; avoid prolonged low temperatures.
  • Substrate : rich, highly draining mixture, including aerated components (bark, perlite) to avoid stagnant water.

Special advice

  • Carefully monitor the balance between moisture and drainage to prevent root rot.
  • Increase ambient humidity (misting, trays, humidifier) especially in dry environments.
  • Repot every 1 to 2 years or when the roots fill the pot.
  • Clean the leaves to remove dust that could reduce the light quality of the foliage.
  • Toxic if swallowed to humans and animals.
