Scientific name
Crassula perfoliata var. falcata 'Airplane'
General description
Crassula 'Falcata' has a striking architectural appearance. Its fleshy, gray-green leaves are arranged in rosettes reminiscent of airplane propellers. In bright light, the foliage can take on more silvery or reddish hues.
Origin
Native to South Africa, grown as a decorative succulent for its graphic foliage and architectural form.
Care
- Light : Bright indirect light to partial full sun to develop silver color and foliage robustness.
- Watering : Water when the substrate is completely dry; “soak and dry” method (wet thoroughly then let dry).
- Humidity : Tolerates low humidity; prefers dry to moderate environments.
- Temperature : between approximately 15 and 29°C; avoid freezing and prolonged exposure to cold.
- Substrate : Highly draining mix, succulent/cactus type, with sand, perlite or mineral material to prevent stagnant water.
Special advice
- Do not wet the leaves when they are in strong light to avoid burns or stains.
- Repot only when the plant is cramped; prefer wide but shallow pots.
- Fertilize lightly during the growing season, about once a month with diluted balanced fertilizer.
- Toxic if swallowed by animals and humans.
