Scientific name
Dracaena surculosa
General description
Dracaena surculosa , often called Dracaena 'Gold Dust', is a houseplant with dark green foliage dotted with golden speckles—a subtle yet decorative contrast that captures attention while remaining easy to integrate into various decors.
Origin
Native to the rainforests of West Africa, where it grows as an understory plant in shady conditions.
Care
- Light : Bright to medium indirect light; too little light will fade the golden flecks.
- Watering : Water when the top 2 to 3 cm of soil is dry; do not leave the pot in standing water.
- Humidity : Moderate; tolerates indoor humidity without requiring extreme humidity.
- Temperature : between 16 and 27°C; avoid prolonged cold temperatures or drafts.
- Substrate : light, well-draining mix, enriched with organic matter with good porosity.
Special advice
- Clean the leaves occasionally to bring out the golden spots.
- Fertilize lightly during the growing season with diluted fertilizer.
- Repot when the roots fill the pot, but without disturbing the roots frequently.
- Toxic if swallowed to humans and animals
