Scientific name
Peperomia 'Hope'
General description
Peperomia 'Hope' is a compact trailing plant prized for its round, fleshy, deep green leaves arranged along slender stems. It has a delicate, decorative shape, ideal for hanging baskets or standing pots, and remains relatively small even when mature.
Origin
Hybrid resulting from a cross between Peperomia quadrifolia and Peperomia deppeana , native to Central and South America where conditions are tropical, filtered and humid.
Care
- Light : Bright indirect light; tolerates medium light but avoids direct sun which burns the leaves.
- Watering : Water when the top of the substrate is dry (a few centimeters), let it dry slightly between two waterings; avoid excess water.
- Humidity : Medium to high (≈ 50-70%); more humid air helps but the plant tolerates household ambient humidity.
- Temperature : between 18 and 27°C; do not expose to low temperatures or cold air currents.
- Substrate : Well-draining, light and airy mix, with components such as perlite or succulent materials to prevent excess moisture.
Special advice
- Lightly prune the stems if the plant becomes too spread out to maintain a dense shape.
- Fertilize lightly once a month during growing seasons with diluted balanced fertilizer.
- Repot every 2-3 years or as soon as the pot becomes too cramped.
- Non-toxic to animals and humans.
