General description

Peperomia prostata is a small, compact, trailing plant often referred to as a String of Turtles. It is recognizable by its small, round, dark green leaves decorated with silvery patterns reminiscent of a turtle's shell. Delicate and ornamental, it is ideal for hanging baskets or terrariums.

Origin

Native to South America, particularly Brazil, where it grows in tropical rainforests as a ground cover or epiphyte.

Care

• Light : Bright indirect light, tolerates medium light but avoid direct sun which burns its foliage.
• Watering : Water moderately; allow the substrate to dry slightly on the surface between waterings. Sensitive to excess water.
• Humidity : Appreciates medium to high ambient humidity, ideal in a terrarium.
• Temperature : between 18 and 27°C, avoid below 15°C.
• Substrate : light, well-drained mix, rich in organic matter (potting soil with perlite or fine sand).
