General description
Alocasia × amazonica 'Polly' is a compact cultivar known for its dark, arrow-shaped, glossy leaves adorned with contrasting white or silver veins. Elegant and exotic, this plant adds a strong decorative touch to bright interiors.
Origin
Horticultural hybrid resulting from crosses between Southeast Asian species, notably Alocasia longiloba and Alocasia sanderiana .
Care
- Light : Bright indirect light, avoid direct sunlight.
- Watering : Keep the substrate slightly moist, water when the surface dries, reduce in winter.
- Humidity : high, between 60 and 80%.
- Temperature : ideal between 18 and 24°C, do not go below 13°C.
- Substrate : fertile, light and draining mixture (potting soil, perlite, coconut fiber, bark).
Special advice
- Fertilize every 2 to 4 weeks in spring and summer with a diluted balanced fertilizer.
- Repot every 2 to 3 years or when roots become visible.
- Multiplication by division of the rhizome.
- Monitor for red spiders and aphids in dry conditions.
- Toxic if swallowed to animals and humans.
