Description
The Calathea makoyana, also known as the Peacock Plant, is a very decorative houseplant with large oval leaves marked with green patterns reminiscent of a peacock's feathers. The underside of the leaves is often pink or purple, adding even more contrast. It is an elegant and tropical plant that likes warm and humid environments.
- Light: It likes bright indirect light, no direct sun. Soft light helps maintain its beautiful patterns, while direct sun can burn or fade its leaves.
- Water: Keep the soil slightly moist, without making it soggy. Water when the surface begins to dry. It prefers soft, filtered, or standing water, as it can be sensitive to chlorine and minerals.
- Humidity: It loves humidity. It will be happier near other plants, in a bright bathroom, or on clay pebbles with a little water.
- Temperature: It likes normal household warmth and prefers to stay above 18°C (64°F). Avoid cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
