General description
Kalanchoe tomentosa 'Panda Plant' is a very popular succulent, recognizable by its fleshy, gray-green, fuzzy leaves edged with dark brown hairs reminiscent of a panda's colors. It forms a compact rosette or small shrub, with a soft, tactile texture that adds decorative charm.
Origin
Native to Madagascar, grows in semi-arid regions where it tolerates poor, sunny soil conditions.
Care
- Light : Bright indirect light, can tolerate a few hours of mild sunlight, especially in the morning or late afternoon.
- Watering : Water when the soil is completely dry; avoid overwatering to prevent rot. In winter, space out the watering.
- Humidity : Likes normal to low room humidity; does not require a high humidity environment.
- Temperature : between ~15 and 27°C; protect from frost and prolonged cold temperatures.
- Substrate : very well-draining mix, containing sand or perlite, cactus/succulent substrate, with good drainage.
Special advice
- Use a pot with a drainage hole.
- Remove dead or dry leaves to keep the plant clean and prevent disease.
